• The Seattle Region 1 Office is one of nine regional offices of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA)
• The ELCA organizational structure consists of the churchwide office in Chicago, the regional offices and 65 synods and over 10,000 congregations.
• There are six synods in Region 1:
  Alaska, Northwest Washington, Southwestern Washington, Eastern Washington-Idaho, Oregon and Montana.
• There are more than 620 congregations among these six synods.

The Region 1 Office supports the mission and ministry of the synods and congregations within its territory. Our staff work in areas of outreach, evangelism, stewardship, multicultural ministry and financial services. We collaborate with synods and congregations in encouraging and walking with them in their ministries. In this way we assist them in fulfilling both their own hopes and God's yearning for their communities of faith. We also facilitate connections among churchwide, synods and congregations so that interdependence is strengthened and opportunities for collaborative ministry are enhanced.

Our Region 1 Mission Statement reflects our emphasis on the development of leaders. "We grow, develop and equip leaders in synods and congregations so that the power of Christ is unleashed, renewing persons, ministries and God's world." The goals of renewal and transformation are at the heart of our work.
