When I came to Calvary in December 2004, this church already had a good relationship with Western Farmworkers, a community organizing group that does outreach to labor camps.  Calvary has opened its doors to Western Farmworkers to host their Christmas Basket program, Eye Screening and other events.  Lately, Calvary has been hosting Sunset Cluster meetings on Latino Ministry and begun a wonderful relationship with Centro Cultural in Cornelius.  I was invited to speak at a forum, there, on US Immigration policy and offered a Biblical perspective that emphasized love for our neighbors and advocating justice for the resident alien in our land.
