Shelton Prison Congregation

God has given a unique opportunity to the congregations and members of the SWWA Synod. They are developing a Lutheran Congregation within the prison walls at the Washington Correctional Center (WCC) at Shelton. This Prison Congregation Model provides spiritual nurture and growth to both the inmate members of the congregation and to the “outmate” members of the partner congregations.

Our Mission for Hope for 2006:
To be a living breathing congregation of the ELCA inside the walls of the WCC where the incarcerated men own their ministry as a church, within the safety and security needs of the institution and build relationships with partner synod congregations thus creating a bridge between the men and their families to congregations throughout the state giving men and families a worshipping community and an effective transition back into society and give the partner congregations a chance for renewal.
